The Global Mobile Phone Market Is Still Lackluster

There have been signs of recovery of the global economy, but the sales of mobile phones in the global scale are still down. The sales of global mobile phone are still falling in the third quarter of this year. Smart phone and touch-screen phone maintain their strengths, but the destiny of different manufactures is not the same.
According to relative reports by Le Figaro, a newspaper in France, in the third quarter of this year, the sales of global mobile phone achieved 290 million sets which had dropped by 4% compared with the same period of last year. The top seven of global mobile phone manufactures weren’t changed, but ranks were mixed. Compared with last year, its total market share has dropped from 84.8% to 84.2%.

Nokia is still the tycoon of mobile phone industry, its sales volume of the third quarter was more than 100 million sets, however, its market share was fell to 37.5%, which had dropped by 1.4% compared with the same period of last year.

Sony Ericsson was the biggest loser for its market share of the third quarter has dropped by 3.6% and its ranks fell from the third to the fifth.

Motorola has a poor performance as well. The mobile phone sales of the third quarter was 145 million sets, which has reduced by from 8.45 of last year to 5%.

However, the market shares of two Korea mobile phone manufactures, Sam Sung and LG, have significantly increases. Sam Sung still kept the top two of global mobile phone manufacture with the sales volume of 590 million sets in the third quarter. The sales volume of LG has increased to 10.9% which become the top three.

Smart phone and touch-screen phone have become the highlight of global mobile phone market. Therefore, the two main manufactures of smart phone have excellent performance. The sales volume of BlackBerry manufacture RIM.cn achieved 830 million sets in the third quarter, and the market share was increasing from 2% to 2.9%. As the hot sale of iPhone, the sale volume of Apple achieved 740 million sets, and the market share had increased from 2.35 to2.6%.
